Pinyin Reading Practice

Only pinyin is shown, no hanzi. Type the letters and each syllable auto-advances. Tones and hanzi can be toggled on demand.

Read the pinyin and type the letters. Each syllable auto-advances when done.

Who this is for

Learners whose syllable recognition is still slow, and Chinese learners of any background who type pinyin fluently.

No IME is needed here: switch to plain English input and just type letters. It is essentially a letter-reaction drill.

How to practice well

Keep hanzi hidden by default to force pure pinyin reading, and reveal it only when stuck.

Start with the words pack, then move to idioms, whose longer syllables make a good next step.

Tones are shown by default to help you link letters with tones. Turn them off once they feel noisy.
