Chinese Typing Practice
The hard part of Chinese typing is not the keyboard, it is the IME. Zizai offers two ways to train it.
Pinyin dictation
拼Chinese text appears on screen and you retype it with your own IME. Character-by-character checking, backspace undo, punctuation auto-skipped. This trains your real-world input speed.

pyOnly pinyin is shown and you type the letters directly, no hanzi, no IME. It trains instant syllable recognition, great for learners.

If you write Chinese on a computer daily, pick dictation. Its CPM score is your true input speed.
If pinyin itself is still new to you, start with reading drills and move to dictation later.
Chinese speed benchmarks
Chinese speed is measured in characters per minute (CPM): hanzi committed correctly per minute.
| Level | CPM |
|---|---|
| Beginner | below 15 |
| Average | 20 to 40 |
| Skilled | 40 to 60 |
| Pro | 60+ |
